Kitten Lessons 101

Right now I have kitten scratches all over my hands. An annoyance that is also a gift. Holding these cuddly balls of fur in my hands is so joyful. There are other aches and pains in life that are minor. I know I am so fortunate not to have chronic pain that others live with daily. My thumb and wrist need to have surgery so I can crochet baby blankets again. That is one of my loves in life. The truth is that my hand does bother me continuously lately but I know it can be fixed and I can move past the pain. Too many have pain that can’t be taken away with medicine or surgery. They just have to choose to walk through life with this either complaining or putting a smile on their face.

Ron is off to scramble over rocks doing archeology with his buddies all day before giving a talk on plumed and horned serpent petroglyphs this evening. To do this he will drive for three hours both ways and never let his back pain get in the way of his adventures. My brother-in-law had double knee replacement and worked through physical therapy with the mindset that he would hike the Grand Canyon rim to rim. Heck, I will never take that hike on my original knees. Jenn is using her recumbent bike to bike ten miles a day. She never did that before her knee surgeries. Pat has to use oxygen and inhalers to get through the day but she continues to produce the most exquisite quilts and rarely misses a Bible study.

Attitude is so important in how we live life. I know I need to constantly check mine. I do better with including others one on one and worse in a large group. It is easier for me to share my heart in this blog than to reach out to others. Too often.I get caught up in jealousy comparing how I am treated to how loved ones treat others.

My goal is to say yes more to invitations and include people in my life daily. These sweet kittens have been a means to invite others in for a snuggle. Putting on Facebook that people should come cuddle kittens has blessed me with people stopping by to ooh and awe over their cute faces. Their tiny sharp claws are just a part of the experience. Hopefully, we can all look at the tiny scratches on our hands and smile at the thought of their adorableness. That is my kitten take away for today.

In Him,
Joyful
