Day One Should Start Today Not Tomorrow or the Day Afterr

Everyday I get up and think today is the day I start Keto again and the next thing you know I have rewarded (in my mind) myself and ate a carb rich treat of one kind or another. Then the day is shot and I think I should just devour any and everything in my path for tomorrow will be carb free. Until it isn’t. So it is not keto or Atkins or any other diet that makes us fail and regain the unwanted weight we lost but the begin again time frame. That time between falling off our diet and beginning again. Like a smoker’s last cigarette that turns into a pack and rapidly into a carton when the thought is depriving ones self is our next step. The ‘about to’ is what makes us overdose on what we are about to lose. One of my friend’s lost a son to a heroin overdose the night before he had agreed to let his dad pick him up to go to a treatment place.

One popular method to build habits is called the 21/90 rule. The rule is simple enough. Commit to a personal or professional goal for 21 straight days. After three weeks, the pursuit of that goal should have become a habit. Once you've established that habit, you continue to do it for another ninety days.

But getting to day one without all those days before day one is a struggle. Making day one actually day one and not just the day before day one in a Groundhog Day manner is the struggle. So perhaps cleaning out our pantries and filling it with whatever is available for whichever food plan we choose to travel on may be helpful. But of course we can always order more or find that last bag of chips or crackers to consume. After all, day one is blown today and won’t start until tomorrow.

In Him,
Joyful
