I love, love, loved watching my grandkids connect and enjoy Felix their new cousin. It was a joy to see Cam tease his sister as he told her three week old that he would be the favorite uncle who taught him to hunt, fish, play football and rugby and of course eat meat. The twinkle in my son’s eye as he spoke into baby Felix about a future was for his sister. Hoping to get a reaction our of her like he did when she was younger. Oh the dynamics of the first born and the baby of the family. She was distracted by her nephew and nieces so he never quite got the outrage he hoped for. The other gift of last night was just how much Cam and Nate have in common and how they can enjoy conversations on so many topics. More than once they each reached for their phones to share something with the other.
So today I travel home after two months of enjoying the Northwest and spending time with family. What a gift to have leisurely, individual time with my beautiful nieces and their parents. The hope in my heart is that my kids and their sweet families carve out time together to get together. It was clear that they enjoyed being together since the only one who ran out of the room when Felix blew out his diaper after a three day drought was our nose sensitive Tim. Cam and Nate laughed at Natalie as she insisted that breastfed babies poop doesn’t stink. The guys were right. The evidence was in the air.
In Him,
Joyful
