I remember when............
The past month Ron and I have been watching old reel to reels of when he was growing up in South America as well as videos of our kiddos on trips when they were young. There are hour upon hour of film with sound of our kids and silent of us when we were young. Our parents were great at documenting life and we in turn held those heavy vcr cameras to record our family adventures. We thought it was incredible when we got the little palm cameras that had a wider viewer. Now we all carry a pocket size camera with several lenses in our phones. One other difference from then to now is that we share images on our tiny screens rather than in photo albums or photo boxes. I guess it does save paper but it feels vulnerable that a glitch could lose all our precious moments.
It was a joy to send photos of our kids through snail mail to our parents. Back then trips to their mailbox were more exciting with the prospect of seeing their grandkids smiles. Now we have the luxury of Facetime and Facebook to share life in real time. Perhaps life now is more connected in the moment. After all, we have spent hours watching films from the past when it was less convenient to record life. Can you imagine the volume of videos and pictures that our next generations will need to go through. Hope they have plenty of popcorn which is also much easier to make these days.
Enjoy today and know that each memory is a pearl for the future.
In Him,
Joyful
