TGIF has a whole different meaning when you are retired. The best part is that others have the weekend off and can get together. But the weekend is not any different than weekdays at this stage of life. Don’t get me wrong…..I still look forward to church and soon football. It is just not a slowing down from a week of work like in younger years. Saturday morning doesn’t have to be a cleaning time or yard work day. Now those can be accomplished during the week at our leisure.
The bustle of life with kids at home and work schedules have evolved to monthly calendars of trips on the books. Looking forward to travel as well as home time is such a gift. I truly believe if my Ronnie B had his way we would rarely be home. Although I do love visiting and adventuring, I also cherish my days at home with the sounds of the park in my backyard. This weekend we are shopping for a new sectional couch to replace the one that is twenty years old and falling apart. Nate and Natalie have said we can take two year old Felix with us. I wonder if Ron will teach him to put his little hand in Ron’s back pocket like he did to our kiddos when we shopped for furniture with our three boys a lifetime ago.
Thank God it is Friday can be special for those who have a Friday trash day or if Friday is there weekly Bible study. Friday for me is another day to be thankful for my life now, look forward to what tomorrow brings and look back over life and all it’s blessings. Happy Friday everyone.
In Him,
Joyful
