Barbers Come Home to New Mexico, What a Sweet Gift

A few years ago Ronnie B and I had no family living in New Mexico. That is not exactly true since close friends are definitely our family but none of our kids or grandkids were here. Fast forward to this Christmas our daughter’s family and our granddaughter’s family are both living thirty minutes away. Our son and his fiancé are contemplating moving here in 2023. That would be fabulous since they would stay with her parents or us until they got settled into their own place. Tanner and Bethany have lived in California for over a decade and boy would we love to have them close. Although we do enjoy visiting them and having an excuse to go to the beach.

What a gift to have little ones close and to be able to have my daughter come up and just hang out on my bed chatting or my grandgirl shopping and running around with me. Their husbands are also available with tech support or to lend their muscles when Ron is out in the field doing archeology. Of course they are equally glad when we aren’t traveling and can babysit the wee ones. I don’t want to let on but it is hardly a chore spending time with their two boys. Felix is a fun almost three year old full of curiosity and energy. Caleb is just three months old and gives me an excuse to pause and just enjoy the feel of him in my arms. Either way this Noni and Papa are so grateful that some of our kid’s families have chosen to come back to their hometown. Now if we could convince Cam and Britt to return with their four life would be sweet. For now we will go up to the northwest and enjoy them often with the added bonus of seeing Ron’s brrother’s family while we are there.

Family is everything. Perfect families don’t exist. But loving one another through the bumps and dips on the road of life is key. I spent far too much time being offended, comparing, and stressing rather than turning my hands up, believing God loves them so much more than me. Looking back on the heartcrushing times of life just proves that He is right with us.Together we can get through even the most difficult parts of the journey.

In Him,

Joyful
