Today is a day of presents but also a day of presence. The presents under the tree will be unwrapped or have been unwrapped last evening in some homes. But the real gift is our presence together just hanging out together. The candlelight service was so sweet with our Christ family greeting and hugging one another. Felix said we were at a concert and he twirled and danced in celebration of what he will someday understand even better. Our home is quiet this morning. All the dishes from last night’s dinner are drying. Soon I will get up to make cinnamon rolls so we can enjoy them down at Natalie and Nate’s as is our morning tradition.
There are families gathering all around the world. Our Jacub from the Czech Republic has become family to us this year. We love hearing the traditions of Christmas that are so similar yet different from his homeland. But the most important of all is the hope Christ’s birth brings to each of us through His birth, His life, and death and resurrection. Loving God and loving others is our gift and our life’s direction.
To know Him and to make Him known is my life statement, my purpose. To fulfill that I must be in relationship with the Christ in the Christmas story so I can draw others into His love for them that He has for me. The closeness of our relationship is nurtured by time spend simply coming together. Just as our families come together to share this Christmas Day will bring us closer through our conversations, gift giving, and the precious memories we are creating. I pray you are not spending this time alone although none of ever has to be alone with the Holy Spirit a constant in our lives. Emmanuel~God is with us. Thankfully, He also brings others into our lives to share this journey through life. God bless you and keep you.
In Him,
Joyful
