It May Be A Craphole But It Is Right On The Beach

Vamos a la playa oh, oh, oh.ohoh.  A few miles to go to get there, but we are off to NewportBeach to surf, swim, build sand castles and just hang on the beach. Sunscreen is packed and so are the boogie boards. Can't wait to hit the road and get my toes in the sand.

I searched the whole day yesterday for a hotel we can afford that is close enough to the beach we can walk. Not an easy task, but it is 2010, and Natalie and I were sitting here with laptops covering all the bases. Finally, we found 1 a block from the beach for practically free. Only trouble is that the reviews don't describe it the most glowing terms. The most troubling is that the 1 star it got was way too generous for this craphole. Craphole, seriously doesn't make me feel reassured about it. I called 2 times yesterday and talked to the owner, DaWayne, and he assures me it is clean, but old.

Again, this is 2010 so we went to street views and actually were able to scope out the hotel and its surrounding areas. Looks better than expected and the beach is SO close! Guess we will pack our pillows and sheets just in case and hit the road. Tom-tom should lead us right to their door.

So our bags are packed and now I am going to grab the IPad and see if there are any apps that will keep Lis entertained on the road trip. Need to get her a journal too so she can start the Barber tradition of writing our way across this amazing country of ours. She will probably be journaling on the IPad soon. Paper and pencil are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Guess I will just pack the IPad and laptops and leave the notebooks at home after all.

Spending time at the beach with our family has been a long standing tradition in our family. Just wish all my kids and grandkids could be there with us. We will ride the waves and bury our toes in  the sand and hope they are able to make it next time.

In Him,
Joyful

Have a surprise trip to Disneyland planned for Lissa. Don't want her to know about it in case something comes up. Can't wait to see her excited, little face!
