Somethings must be done no matter how unpleasant, but some tasks are not so urgent except that they are extremely important to someone we love. Whether something that we tackle is absolutely necessary to us or to those we love, the best thing to do is roll up our sleeves and get to it.
In Oak Creek, a few years ago, the sewer pipes under the trailer just disintegrated. My brave sister and I crawled under the trailer in all the not so pleasant yuck and began scooping out the mess. This was a task that could not wait, there was no choice but to clear the weeks of grossness out so we could install a new pipe.
Todays garage sale was not a pressing problem to be tackled but it seemed that way to my clutterphobic husband. Weeding through all our stuff and organizing the cupboards and closets in our home was not a priority to me. I would have been content to just live with it as is. But because it was important to the man I love, we dug in and dug through and accomplished this exhausting job. So my house is less cluttered and there are a few extra dollars in our pockets, but the real satisfaction is in knowing I selflessly collaborated with my man.
Now, I won't pretend that I trudged through this job joyfully like I should have. But grumbling aside I am glad for being willing to put myself through the labor of love that was the garage sale experience. To be honest the Westleys joined us with some of their no longer treasured items and Jenn and Nina came over just to help out. In the end, the damp, dreary weather was no match for the comraderie of having a garage sale with close friends. Enjoyable day after all!
Hope Ron is more joyful than I was as we begin remodeling the bathroom that is 1 of my priority pushes.
In Him,
Joyful
