Wolf Weekend!

Wolf Weekend here we come! Young Life is taking 30+ high school teens up to ski, pray, and have an outrageously fun time. My thrill is that I get to be in the middle of all the enthusiastic adventure. It will be a new experience for me since I am not going as a leader this time but as a driver. So when they are in cabin time, I will be praying for them in my room instead of sitting right there. They don't even need me to help in the kitchen, God has lifted others up to fill those roles. Guess I will have time to reflect and enjoy the Wolf Lodge with special time with my Savior.  What a different experience it will be from being in the thick of the games, skits and excitement. But this year God has provided the perfect role for me. Involved with the experience and these teens that I love, but a bit sidelined. I am thankful that I still am a part of Young Life and pray God will lead me in where my discipleship role lays in the future.

My experience has always been with the Wyldlife, middle school, part of Young Life. This year that program has not even begun. It is devastating to realize that this is not available to our midschool friends this year in our little town. But God knows what He is doing and this year would have been difficult for me to lead even WL. So I am driving high schoolers who are my heart kids from their middle school days and I get to stay a part of their lives. How blessed I am.

My heart has been so tentative since Ryan died, this weekend I have the perfect part to play. I am welcome to be involved in as much as I want but no tasks other than driving up are required. The ride up will be awesome as everyone's enthusiasm builds for the fabulous weekend ahead. Returning home will be a wonderful, warm embrace as exhausted snowboarders share their adventures from the weekend in that wornout but comfortable sortof way.

Pray for me as I embark on the weekend and look forward to where God leads me in the future. His way not mine is my prayer for my ministry and my life.
