So, we are donating our ancient, family minivan and last night was eventful. Natalie drove during the day even though it only goes in 1st gear and locked the keys in it we thought. Tanner took it on a trip to Arizona in April and took out one of the middle seats so the dog kennel would go in the back.
I dug around our bedroom till I found the Salvage title but I needed to get the car seat back in and turn out the dome lights. Natalie was at her Tuesday night dinner and couldn't be helpful in unlocking the doors so I called the tow truck that my insurance would pay for to come out.
Tanner showed up with the car seat and was reluctant to wait for the guy to unlock the van but waited anyway. He was getting quite impatient as the 30 minute arrival time turned into just shy of an hour. The phone rang and Eric said hello to me and explained he was just finishing putting the kids to bed and would be there as soon as he could. Small town! He is the mechanic we use who also told us to, "Stick a fork in it, it is done!" when the transmission went out of our van with 210,000 miles on it.
When Eric arrived he couldn't get the door open and Tanner and his friend Sean ended up opening the door after all. All that waiting for nothing! Actually, I enjoyed their company and was grateful for the visit. Since Tanner waited he decided to snag the battery out of the van for his efforts. Guess it didn't really matter too much that the dome light was depleting the battery after all. By the way, the keys were in Natalie's jacket pocket the whole time.
This craziness got me thinking about when Cam was a tow truck driver right after high school. We were so worried that are less than detail oriented son would forget to bolt something down and a car would roll off the flatbed. Well, we were wrong to worry he never lost a car or failed to hook any hooks.
However, he did get a call one time to pick up a black Jeep Cherokee on Urban Park which was not running. The owner had dropped the keys off at the shop earlier that day. Cam picked up the Jeep and took it in but when he got there the mechanic couldn't get the key to work. They checked the VIN number and discovered Cam had towed the wrong black Jeep! Which was by now a STOLEN, black Jeep. He scurried around and got it placed nervously back where it had been originally parked, picked up the customer's black Jeep and headed back to the shop.
I am so thankful that happened because otherwise I wouldn't have had this fun story!
In Him,
Joyful
Just got a call the guy is on his way to pick it up at the end of our cul-de-sak and he is not coming in a tow truck but a transport truck with a full load of cars on it already. Maybe we should have left the battery in. Oh well, may give me a good story for tomorrow!
