A simple cardboard box filled with a dozen summer workbooks for my students was just missing. I saved my PTA money this year to purchase these all inclusive workbooks so my kiddos could keep current on their skills and I lost them. I am in the middle of the daunting task of moving from one classroom to the next and I tucked those books away and just couldn't find them as the last day of school was closing in. My aide, Tammy, searched tirelessly through boxes in both room. Then Miquel came by and offered his services. He told me he didn't mind because he enjoyed a challenge and looking for missing things. This was so kind because I was sure that it was ME who put them wherever they were and no one else should have to help find them.
With all 3 of us looking they just didn't turn up. So I gave up Thursday, the night before the last day, and bought the kids water bottles to replace the workbooks. The kids loved their water bottles and never knew that they were not getting workbooks. Then this afternoon, Nina found them! Right there in the cabinet that all 3 of us had so dutifully searched in a box, at eye level, quietly ready for the kids who already went home for the summer. ugh!
I called all the parents and they agreed to come in and get them. Problem solved, frustration over, everything as it was planned to be. These kinder, 1st, and 2nd graders can keep their skills fresh over the summer and have a better start to their next grade.
Sometimes life just needs a little mystery to keep the craziness going. Silly me thought the last week of school, changing programs and classrooms was crazy enough without the great Workbook Mystery.
In Him,
Joyfully smiling
