Comfort Others As You Are Comforted

It was so difficult to watch another family grieve the loss of their precious 21 year old Nicky. I pray peace over them as they grasp how permanent this loss is. More than once today, I heard someone say it has to be a mistake, a joke, a misunderstanding. He can't be gone. Natalie and I had the exact same conversation about Ryan when he died and even a few days ago.

The love we have for the ones we love is so much a part of us. It is difficult to believe we can move forward in life with a loss so great. I heard someone speaking out of a need to comfort saying everything will be okay. Though I held my tongue, I wanted to dispute that. It will never  be okay to go on without Ryan or Nicky but we will. The pain will ease but life will forever be different than before they left this place.

Pray peace for the Naranjo family. I pray we can be a comfort for the loss we share. It is not a group we chose but the groing group of parents who grieve this loss is growing too rapidly in our town. The least we can do is be there for each other.

2 Corinthians 1:4-5
Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort that we ourselves received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

In Him,
Joyful

  1. Dear Joyful, I am finally getting around to visit all my blogs that I like. Have been so busy making the items for the charity summer picnic have not had time to visit where I find inspiration. I agree so with your post today. I would not want to be 17 again or any other age than I am. I am a big believer in the developmental states of life and if you try to skip one or back up and do another things are just not right. God leads us through each stage in life and blesses us with the grace to journey through it. So sorry for the grief you, family and friends are going through.I find peace in this the final stage of a life full of adventures if we look for them. Blessings
