Share The News And The Feelings

The tragedy that is 9-11 was the enormous loss of life and innocence. The gift of 9-11 was our nation coming together, One Nation Under God. Our stars and stripes took on new meaning as we clung to one another praying continuously for each other. Like Pearl Harbor and President Kennedy's assassination, people across the world know where they were when that awful day occurred. Family's reached out to each other and strangers were finding ways to help those personally affected. That day within a few moments life was forever altered.

In 10 years, one short decade, life can change completely. 10 years ago, families gathered around televisions to witness the tragedy. Today, people don't gather at all but watch individually on their iphones, ipads, or laptops. We share our thoughts and prayers on social networks reaching out to friends and family members.

There are pros and cons to the new techno gadgets we now can't seem to live without.  People we would not have kept track of a 10 years ago we now communicate daily through the internet. But we also talk less to those who are in the next room. Our personal devices eliminates the sharing and processing of what we are viewing.

I am grateful that 10 years ago we were able to cling to each other as we watched in horror as this senseless act unfolded. The lesson for me is to set my personal media devices aside and go sit on the couch and connect with Ron as we watch the tributes together and pray for our nation and our world.

In Him,
Joyful

9-11-11
