A Perfect from the Pile of Posters Find

The Vigils had a fabulous time in Santa Fe at our reunion. Ron and I always like to find a poster and have everyone sign it. So here is the lovely southwest poster with all the sweet signatures of family. But of course there is a story about the poster that I would love to share.....

We went to a poster shop right off the plaza and the owner looked much like Einstein with his hair and mussy clothing. He sat outside and was addressing envelopes to send out political musings to others. Once we stepped inside the shop we both agreed that we would sit outside too rather than be in the chaos and disorder of his shop. There were piles spilling into the aisles and everything was in disarray. He had so much stuff that it was piled to the ceiling. We began a search for the perfect poster and thought we were doing so methodically. As we worked our way through the enormous amount of stuff and talked to one another, the wild haired gentleman kept stepping into the shop to shout directions as to where we should look. There was proof that he knew just where everything was even in so much clutter.

When we finally found this perfect for us print, it was marked $20. There was a pile of cardboard tubes so we picked one that worked and headed to the front. I was cleaning off the cobwebs and dust from the tube as we gingerly stepped our way to the waiting gentleman. He informed us the print was $35. and the tube was $2. His advice was that we removed the cobwebs so that was helpful. There was no arguing the price because we were convinced we would never find the location it came from or were we willing to retrace our steps. We paid and moved on. He continued with his influential mailings to Madam so and so and Sir this and that. I wanted to inquire what he was mailing but didn't have the patience to listen to his tales.

Now our poster is signed, framed, and sitting on our mantel. I love it! But I also love the story of how we uncovered it in an off plaza poster shop in Santa Fe. What an adventure family reunions are with all the stories, memories and even an eccentric shopkeeper with just what we wanted.

In Him,
Joyful
