This weekend a group of girlfriends are joining me in our families cabin in Oak Creek Canyon near Sedona. This will be the first time I go without Ronnie B. since my sister died. I am so looking forward to this trip and the relaxation that will be. But I am so grateful to my friends and grand girl who are accompanying me. It is sad that some will not be able to enjoy the creek side fun but this will be the first of many trips that they will be able to come next time. The hoe is that we can go in the spring and fall each year.
There is no agenda. We have plenty of schedules even in our retired lives so we just want to each do our own thing. Whether it is reading a book, doing a puzzle, or just sitting listening to the creek. It would be fun to go into Sedona for a bite to eat and to drive around but it is not a have to. This trip is a get to not a have to so that is the tone for the next few days.
It may be that reading in my Mom’s bed with the windows letting the babble of the creek sound in and reading a book like she and my Grandma Peabody did in the exact same spot. Like a leaf in the stream we will just enjoy the space and the memories we create will help me face this special face without my family. They will surely be there in spirit. This place is where we gathered for so many family fun trips. Oak Creek is a family treasure. It is time for us to enjoy the next chapter there.
In Him,
Joyful
