Just Say Yes to Spending Time with a Little

Felix is such a chatterbox and I should be writing down all the Felixisms he comes up with. When I asked him why is name is Felix, he informed me that he thought of it while he was in his Mama’s tummy.  That is good to know. Yesterday, he was not minding and I got frustrated with him. When I apologized for getting angry, he told me it was No problem Noni. Where do kids get these phrases that we don’t realize we are teaching them.

I love this time in my life when I get to have this three year old three days a week. Trust me, I look forward to Thursday when his Mama is back from school because I am sixty-six after all. Parenting is for the young but being with kiddos part time is beyond good times. I find myself using Felix’ phrases throughout the day. He just says the perfect thing at the perfect time. All kids do. It reminds me of the little wisdoms my own kids said years ago. These make me smile and smiling is good.

My advice is that if you don’t live near your grandkids or don’t have any, just go out and spend time with one in your community. Trust me a mom of littles will be so grateful. Jenn used to spend an evening with a coworkers toddler one night every other week so the parents could have a date. It was a win, win. I can’t imagine that if you approached a mom in your world that she would say no to an hour or two off. Empty nesters are in a place that can liven up our lives and give a much needed break to a mom in the trenches. This is another time when it is good to say yes to life. Even a short, clever, fun loving life.

In Him,

Joyful
