Family Fun and the Great Treasure Hunt

Oh the fun of family………..I just had a bit of a sad day on the longest day of the year since it would have been my Mom’s ninetieth birthday. She loved that her birthday was on the summer solstice. It made her feel special. Are there solstices in heaven? Ronnie B would be happy if there was so he could chase shadow petroglyphs. That would mean there would have to be shadows and petroglyphs I suppose. The truth is none of us know what heaven will be with other than we are going to be in the presence of God. I am positive it will be beyond anything we could even imagine.

Today I am excited that seventeen of us are gathering for Navajo tacos at Paul and Cindy’s. What a joy to have two of my kids families here along with Ron’s siblings and their family. Even one of his cousins is coming who we haven’t seen in a while. Should be a boisterous coming together of food and fun.

Yesterday was the DuPont garage sale day. It is only allowed in Cam and Britt’s town twice a year. So there were close to a hundred garage sales and people even put a ton of free stuff out at their curbs. The kids had a list of what they hoped to find and boy were they able to check a lot of things off that list. I think we went back to their house to empty the car at least four or five times. They put everything on the dining room table to admire their haul. It was so much fun driving around spying the sales with just the right stuff. Excitement, enthusiasm and a whole lot of giddiness at our excellent finds. The carry-on bag I got to take to the Bahamas was perfect. Cam of course got a bunch of stuff to grow his beer brewing efforts. Julie and Kenzie looked for plants, pots to put those plants in and books. Kayla bought five pairs of shoes and scored a bunch of cute clothes. Tim was all about the Star Wars stuff and Miss Millie got a sweet snack container with her own money. Garage Sales are like a wonderful treasure hunt. But when a whole town participates it is like finding the mother lode.

This has been a fabulous few weeks of family time. Here it is already Sunday with our Wednesday departure creeping closer and closer. Hopefully we took enough pictures to add to the memories of all the good times together. With or without photos all the togetherness brings a smile to my face. How blessed we are to have family and to spend time with them.

In Him,

Joyful
