Yep, it is true. Cora just can’t help but lick you continuously and enthusiastically. She will stay with you off leash and is good about not barking her head off but when it comes to her tongue she looses all control. You may end up a slobbery mess if you give her too much attention. So be prepared for her unasked for bath and plan a shower soon after.
This summer she stayed with our son’s family and they said she was well behaved other than her tongue problem. The truth is. she is just so excited to be with you that her licks are her way of showing her affection. But that fact doesn’t make her slurps any less annoying. I often wonder what we do to her that is as annoying as her smooches are to me. Perhaps she gets frustrated when I show off her hand shaking abilities or when she is waiting for dinner while I get distracted by whatever. A package arrived for her caregivers after her departure full of tongues. Hopefully, she won’t be missed as much since they have these lickers to remember her by.
Cora is the perfect pub dog and frequently walks down with us to get a beer. So joking that she can’t control her licker is just perfect. She gets loads of pets and treats as we sip our cold beer and predictably gives her tongue a workout. The day she climbed a tree on our walk was surely because she just knew that squirrel needed a lick or two. He thought otherwise.
